Goa Football Association (GFA) has upgraded the artificial turf at its Duler Stadium, after 12 years.
GFA President Dr. Caitano Fernandes, Vice-President (North Goa) Jonathan De Souza, Anthony Pango (VP South Goa), other executive members and club officials attended the ceremony of blessing the turf today.
Expressing his delight, Dr. Caitano said: “It was our aim to get the turf relayed and we did it. Duler Stadium is primed to welcome football once again, providing our youth with an optimal platform to showcase their skills,” he stated.
“We are focusing on allround development of the sport in Goa. For our athletes to give their best, they need the best environment too. And for football, it begins with the ground. Duler Stadium needed the relaying of the turf and our president Caitano made it happen. I am sure our players will enjoy playing football at this venue once again as the new life breathes at the stadium,” stated Jonathan.
Experienced football administrator Pango announced the return of top-flight football to the venue, with AIFF IWL Division 2 matches scheduled to kick off on March 22.
