GOA HONOURED WITH HISTORIC ‘MOST ACCESSIBILE STATE AWARD’

Goa has been honoured with the “Most Accessible State Award” by Svayam, India’s leading accessibility organisation, in collaboration with UNESCO and the CII Foundation; at the National Accessibility Summit held in New Delhi.

Social Welfare Minister,  Subhash Phal Dessai, who received the award on behalf of Government of Goa, announced the historic achievement and handed the award to the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday.

“This recognition is a historic first, as Goa becomes the first state in the country to receive this prestigious honour for our sustained efforts to make our infrastructure, sports, tourism, and public spaces more inclusive and accessible for all.

“The success of initiatives like the International Purple Fest – the celebration of inclusivity stands as a testament to our collective vision of creating opportunities and empowering persons with disabilities,” asserted Dr Sawant.

“This achievement further strengthens our resolve to build an inclusive, barrier-free, and compassionate Goa, ensuring dignity and equal access for every citizen,” added the Chief Minister.
