In a significant push towards strengthening Industrial infrastructure and enhancing ease of doing business, Goa Industrial Development Corporation has undertaken an extensive and multi-faceted infrastructure upgrade at the Pilerne Industrial Estate—one of the state’s key industrial hubs of Goa.
The transformation at Pilerne Industrial Estate reflects a strategic and comprehensive approach, combining robust road engineering, modern traffic management systems, improved logistics infrastructure and upgraded worker-centric facilities to create a more efficient, safe and business-friendly environment.
At the core of the upgrade is the upgradation of all internal roads through White Topping, a more durable and long-lasting solution aimed at significantly improving internal connectivity and reducing maintenance costs. This has been complemented by the development of a dedicated Truck Terminal parking facility, addressing long-standing concerns of congestion and enabling smoother movement of heavy vehicles within the estate.
Highlighting the significance of these developments, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Chairman – Goa-IDC stated: “The comprehensive upgrades at Pilerne Industrial Estate reflect our focused approach towards building modern, efficient and future-ready industrial ecosystems in Goa. In line with global standards for Industrial infrastructure, Goa-IDC has also implemented a comprehensive traffic management and safety system. This includes installation of traffic signage, road markings, studs (cat-eyes) and other road appurtenances, alongwith the provision of concrete speed breakers at key junctions and along major stretches to regulate vehicular movement and enhance safety for both commuters and workers.
As part of the ongoing infrastructure upgrade at the Pilerne Industrial Estate, a comprehensive CCTV surveillance system is being introduced at all strategic and high-traffic locations across the estate. This initiative is aimed at strengthening security, enabling real-time monitoring, and enhancing overall safety for industrial units, workforce and logistics movement. The installation of these cameras will also support better traffic management, deter unauthorized activities, and ensure a more secure and well-regulated industrial environment.
Adding to the functional improvements is a strong focus on aesthetics and environmental quality. The beautification of roadside shoulders, including the painting of kerb stones with synthetic enamel paint, has contributed to a cleaner, more organized, and visually appealing industrial landscape—reflecting a shift towards more sustainable and well-maintained industrial ecosystems.
Recognizing the importance of worker welfare and support infrastructure, Goa-IDC has also undertaken the renovation of the Canteen building, creating improved facilities for the workforce. This has been further enhanced by providing and laying interlocking pavers in front of the canteen, ensuring better accessibility and usability of common spaces.
To address critical infrastructure gaps and improve resilience, ongoing works such as the widening of internal roads by laying pavers and raising the height of drainage systems between plot no. 79 to 80-B are being executed. These interventions are expected to significantly improve stormwater management, prevent waterlogging, and ensure uninterrupted industrial operations during the monsoon season.
Collectively, these initiatives mark a major milestone in Goa-IDC’s larger vision of modernizing industrial estates across the state through planned, high-impact infrastructure interventions. The upgrades at Pilerne Industrial Estate not only enhance day-to-day operational efficiency for industries but also position the estate as a model for future-ready industrial development in Goa.
