A total of 709 rising badminton talents from across India will descend on Goa for the prestigious Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub Junior (U-13) Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026, scheduled to be held from May 13 to 18, 2026, at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium. Organised by Goa Badminton Association under the aegis of the Badminton Association of India and co-organised by South Goa District Badminton Association, the tournament will feature Boys and Girls U-13 Singles and Doubles events.
The Qualifying matches will be played on May 13 and 14 from 8.30 am onwards, while the main draw will be held from May 15 to 18. The tournament is powered by Model Margao, an initiative of Yogiraj Digambar Kamat. Vinayak Kamat is the Organising Secretary, while D. Dinesh of Tamil Nadu will serve as Referee and G. Prasanth of Kerala as Match Controller, alongside nearly 60 officials from across the country.
India’s finest young shuttlers will battle for honours with top seeds such as Rehaan Dudekula, Sarthak Joshi, Harshith Venkata Sai and Sibi Jero J heading the Boys Singles field, while Lyosha Korukonda, Shanvi Reddy Nimma, Anvi Reddy Gade and Hazel Joshi lead the Girls Singles draw. In doubles, Rajasthan pair Lokesh Gurjar and Rakshit Singh Mehra top the Boys Doubles rankings, while Telangana duo Lyosha Korukonda and Shanvi Reddy Nimma head the Girls Doubles category.
Goa’s challenge will be led by Michael Ryan Mare, Pratik Naik Borkar, Ayansh Sanke, Vedh Lotliker and Varun Sahakari in the boys section, while rising Goa sensation Amaira Dhumatkar, last year’s National U-11 bronze medallist, will spearhead the girls squad alongside Kanika Pai Vernekar, Ashbah Tahasildar and Aditi Dhargalkar.
President of the Goa Badminton Association Manoj Patil said that hosting national ranking tournaments of this stature plays a major role in enhancing the profile of badminton in Goa and provides invaluable exposure for local players against the country’s best emerging talent.
He added that such events also reinforce Goa’s growing reputation as a premier sports destination in line with the Goa Government’s sports development vision. Praveen Shenoy, the Association Secretary, lauded the South Goa District Badminton Association for driving the event as co-organisers and ensuring professional execution of this prestigious national championship.
