PANAJI: Anshuman Agarwal grabbed triple crown, while Khushal Naik and Trisha Verlekar won double title each, at the State Ranking Table Tennis tournament organised by Goa Table Tennis Association (GTTA) in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) at the multipurpose stadium, Peddem.
On an exciting final day of matches on Monday, Anshuman upset top seed Dheeraj Rai to clinch the men’s singles title to add to the two Junior (U-17 and U-19) titles he had won earlier.
Khushal Naik, who had reached three finals won the U-13 and U-15 boys singles titles while Trisha Verlekar clinched the Under-13 and Under-15 girls titles.
Prutha Parrikar was crowned women’s singles champion while Dhruva Kamat upset Chandan Caro to clinch the Hopes (U-11) boys title. In the Girls U-11 category, Ishita Colaso emerged the winner. Galya Fernandes (U-17 girls) and Aditi Chodankar (U-19 girls) emerged winners in the junior girls section.
Aldona MLA, Glen Ticlo and GTTA officials namely Vero Nunes (President), Christopher Menezes (Secretary), Subhash Pandit (Treasurer), Vishnu Kolwalkar and Sudin Verenkar (Vice-Presidents), Kabir Makhija, Nilesh Kirtani and Amey Lawande (Executive Members) graced the prize distribution ceremony.
Following are the finals results: Under-11 – girls (Hopes) Ishita Colaco bt Anaya Srivastava 3 -0 (11-8, 11-4, 11-6). Boys (Hopes) Dhruva Kamat bt Chandan Caro 3-2 (11-7, 9-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-8). Under-13 girls (Cadets) Trisha Verlekar bt Ruchi Kirtani 3-0 (11-9, 11-9, 12-10). Boys – Khushal Naik bt Rishan Sheikh 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 11-5). Under-15 girls (Sub-Juniors) Trisha Verlekar bt Galya Fernades 3-1(5-11, 11-9, 11-8, 12-10). Boys – Khushal Naik bt Aaron Farias 3-0 (12-10, 11-3, 11-8).
