‘GOANS ARE DOG-LOVERS, REQUEST PUBLIC TO BE RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERS’

While acknowledging the Goans as ‘dog lovers’, the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has also advised the public to be ‘responsible pet owners’.

In a post to X, the Chief Minister stated: “Goans are dog lovers. I request the public to be responsible pet owners, get their dogs sterilized and vaccinated and practice to dispose garbage and food waste properly, so that to avoid increase of dog breeding. This will help to keep the dog population under control for the benefit of both dogs and human.”

Dr Sawant, earlier inaugurated the Rabies Mukt Goa – Static Point Vaccination Campaign, and the Dog micro chipping project on the occasion of World Rabies Day.

“I am happy to note that Goa is the 1st ‘Rabies Controlled Area’ in the country, where the human Rabies has been stopped. I congratulate the State Animal Husbandry Department and Mission Rabies for the achievement. To maintain this status and to eliminate the virus in dogs we are continuing with the full year round vaccination of dogs at the state borders and static point once in a year vaccination at inner talukas,” the CM mentioned in the social media post.
