GOANS STAMP ULTIMATE CLASS AS TEJAS SHEVDE LEADS INDIAN TEAM TO ‘ULTIMATE FRISBEE’ BRONZE MEDAL IN NETHERLANDS

PANAJI: Goa is an emerging force in the Indian Ultimate Frisbee circuit! And the tremendous potential is evident now as Tejas Shevde from Margao captained Indian Ultimate Frisbee club team ‘Ambush UC’ to a bronze-medal finish at the Windmill 2022 Tournament in the Netherlands.

Ambush UC had a strong Goan presence in the team with Nathan Chowgule (coach), Melanie Chowgule (assistant-coach), Stania Peris (captain), Tejas Shevde (captain), Rebecca Godinho and Sophie Chowgule; driving the Indian club from being seeded No 37 out of 40 teams at the start of the tournament, to a stunning third-place finish.

Ambush UC beat some of the best teams from France, USA, England, Sweden among others and can now boast of their position among the elite Ultimate players of the world.

Tejas Shevde, who is Goa’s top tennis player as well, expressed delight at the impressive team performance at the global level. Speaking to livenewsgoa.com, Tejas commented: “We were really happy and excited for this because this was a very big and a competitive tournament with the best teams from all over Europe and the best team from America were participating. We went out there and beat the American team, and even some of the European teams.

“It is a big achievement for Indian Ultimate and for me to lead this team to such a victory, really means a lot. We put in a lot of effort for this and it definitely showed. We are ready to go higher and achieve bigger things as AMBUSH!!.”
