Goa’s rising talent Amaira Dhumatker and her partner Saina Sharma of Telangana went down fighting to top seeds and India No. 1 ranked pair Lyosha Korukonda and Shanvi Reddy Nimma, both from Telengana, in the U-13 Girls’ Doubles Quarterfinals of the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub Junior (U-13) Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026 in Kolkata, losing 7-15, 15-9, 5-15 in a thrilling 3 game match.
Despite the defeat, the 10-year-old Amaira’s spirited performance against the country’s top-ranked pair has further underlined her immense potential.
“We are extremely proud of the way Amaira and her partner competed against the India No. 1 pair. At just 10 years of age, and still eligible to play in the U-11 category, Amaira is competing against much older players and giving them a tough time. This performance is a clear indication of her tremendous potential and a very bright future,” said Goa Badminton Association president, Manoj Patil.
