Evan Antonio Telles emerged champion of the ‘Open category’ at the 38th National U-7 Open & Girls Chess Championships held from 1-5 June in Odisha.
Margao-based Evan, who becomes the first Goan to top the Open Category, collected 8.5 points from 9 rounds with an unbeaten record. Three of his 8 wins came against higher-rated opponents.
