Goa’s healthcare infrastructure received a big boost with the inauguration of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and IUI/IVF Centre at Goa Medical College & Hospital, Bambolim, on Monday.
Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant launched the facility for the treatment of infertility patients, in the presence of Health Minister, Vishwajit P Rane, Health Secretary Arun Kumar Mishra (IAS), Dean, Goa Medical College, Shivanand Bandekar, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade and IVF pioneer Dr. Kedar Padte among others.
“This new facility will offer cutting edge treatments like intra-uterine insemination and in-vitro fertilisation (IVF)…Today, we take a step further by addressing the need of another segment of our population, the infertility patients,” said the Chief Minister.
Addressing the gathering, Health Minister Vishwajit P Rane said: “With this initiative, women no longer need to travel outside the state for IVF treatment. Together, with the expertise of exceptional individuals in the state like Dr. Kedar Padte, we can elevate Goa to new heights. The GMC’s dedication to providing the best care is truly commendable and we are constantly working to ensure we are on par with international standards.
“This historic achievement makes our hospital the first in the country to offer free IVF through CSR. Many have faced the heartache of giving up on the dream of having a child, but we remain steadfast in our efforts to ensure the people of Goa receive the highest quality care. This initiative is more than a step; it’s a powerful movement.”
