Goa’s healthcare facilities are scaling new heights with epic achievements illuminating the journey.
Becoming the first state in the country to offer the free IVF treatment since late 2023, Goa has now registered its first IVF baby – a baby girl born via caesarean.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane emphasised that this achievement highlights GMC’s commitment to advanced healthcare and its dedication to supporting families.
Goa is transforming healthcare with cutting-edge technology and advanced facilities. Digital Neuropathy Screeners and Digital Stethoscopes have been installed across the state to enable early detection of diabetes, heart, and lung diseases. AI-powered X-rays are operational at 11 healthcare centres to accelerate lung cancer detection.
The State-of-the-Art Molecular Lab and an additional Cath Lab at GMC are enhancing the capacity to diagnose complex conditions and perform advanced cardiac procedures with precision.
The operation of satellite OPDs across the state, is also a huge boost to the healthcare system. Especially in the rural areas of the remote corners of the state, such OPDs are forming the crucial links between the patients and specialist doctors in the central hospitals via the tele-medicine tools.
Adding steam to the ‘TB Mukt Bharat’ campaign, PHC Pilliem Dharbandoda witnessed the inauguration of a handheld X-ray machine. This initiative, led by the Health Officer and supported by ZP member Umakant Gaude, will undoubtedly enhance early diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis. Also, the successful screening of 49 individuals and referral of 20 for sputum tests highlights the commitment to eradicating TB, underlined the Health Minister. “This commendable effort showcases the dedication of healthcare professionals and DHS Goa in prioritising public health,” he added.
