Katya Coelho of Goa Yachting Association, (GYA) won gold medal in the IQ Foil Women’s Class at YAI Sailing Championship in Mumbai; and qualified yet again to represent India at the upcoming Asian Games in China.
Held at Mumbai’s Girgaum Chowpaty from 9th to 13th February, this event was also the third and final round of the Asian Games Selections Trials.
Adhvait Menon who represents INWTC Mandovi and is the son of a Naval officer recently posted in Goa, won gold medal in the ILCA 4 boys category. He also qualified for the Asian Games 2023.
Meanwhile, Pearl Colvalcar continued to improve her performance and won silver medal in ILCA 4 girls category with 3 guns to her credit, she will be the reserve sailor for Asian Games.
Dayne Coelho took 2 guns to win silver medal in the IQ Foil men’s category. Unfortunately, he had missed the first selection trials having tested positive for Dengue. He will now focus on the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualification, stated a press release.
