GOA’S RITVIZ PARAB GETS ‘INTERNATIONAL MASTER’ TITLE

Goan chess player Ritviz Parab is now an International Master. After touching the Elo 2400 in live rating at the Tsaghkadzor Open 2023 -Tournament A being played in Armenia, Ritviz became the seventh IM in Goa.

Ritviz drew with GM Sethuraman to achieve the rating. He had already completed the required third IM norm at the  the Abu Dhabi Chess Tournament recently.

Ritviz had achieved his first norm of the IM title in Bangkok in 2015, followed by his second norm in 2018 at the National Senior Chess Championship held in Jammu. He had to wait five years for the third norm.

In the past, Goa has seen the following players achieve the IM status: Anurag Mhamal, Rohan Ahuja, Ameya Audi, Leon Mendonca, Bhakti Kulkarni and Nitish Belurkar.
