The Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C) through Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd. (ITG), will provide free laptops to top 10 meritorious students (5 boys and 5 girls) belonging to Schedule Tribe (ST) communities and 10 meritorious students (5 boys and 5 girls) belonging to Schedule Caste (SC) Communities of Class X (10th) from each of the talukas in Goa.
The objectives of the scheme are – 1. To promote Information Technology/Digital Skills amongst students from ST and SC communities; 2. To encourage students from ST and SC communities to pursue their higher education in the field of Information Technology.
The ‘Eligibility Criteria’ for the scheme is as follows:
•The student should be born in the State of Goa.
•The student must belong to ST or SC community.
•The student is required to pass Class X examination of Goa Board in first attempt.
•The student has to score at least 70 per cent (aggregate) in Class X examination of Goa Board
•The student should be schooling in the taluka in which he/she is considered meritorious.
•In case of a male student, he should feature in the Top 5 among the Class X male (ST/SC) students of the taluka.
•In case of a female student, she should feature in the Top 5 among the Class X female (ST/SC) students of the taluka.
Those students, who fulfil the eligibility criteria, may apply for the scheme by filling the prescribed online application form using https://merit.goa.gov.in The last day for online submission is 5th October 2023.
The following documents need to be submitted with the online application:
•Birth certificate of the applicant issued by the competent authority of Government of Goa.
•Photo ID proof of applicant (Aadhaar Card/School ID card etc.)
•Mark Sheet issued by the Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education.
•ID Proof of Parent displaying signature (PAN Card/Passport/Driving License etc.)
•Consent of Parent in prescribed format only.
•An attested copy of Caste Certificate issued by the competent authority of Government of Goa.
The following procedure for scrutiny, will be adopted:
1. Applicants having their applications completed in all respect will only be considered for the scheme.
2. The complete application will be reviewed by the scrutinizing committee of Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd. (ITG) for selecting top 5 boys and top 5 girls under the particular criteria.
3. Start and last date for applying for the scheme will be announced by ITG every year.
