Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) and the Department of Tourism announced ‘Dudhsagar Festavista’, a one-day extravaganza scheduled to be held on 25th December 2024, at the picturesque Metawado Ground in Collem, South Goa. The one of the kind event is set to offer a unique blend of music, culture, and festive celebrations on Christmas Day.
During the announcement at a press conference, Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar, Chairman of GTDC, highlighted the significance of this initiative in enhancing tourism experiences while spotlighting the beauty of Goa’s hinterlands. Dudhsagar Festavista will feature an exceptional lineup of performances, with celebrated artists including Band 24K, Kashish and Bollywood Band, DJ Amin, and comedian Ahsaan Qureshi, ensuring a captivating experience for all attendees. Hosting the event will be the dynamic MC Cedric, adding a lively charm to the occasion.
Attending the press conference were Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director of Tourism and Managing Director of GTDC; Gavin Dias, General Manager of GTDC; and Deepak Narvekar, Deputy General Manager of GTDC.
Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar stated, “Dudhsagar Festavista promises a captivating array of activities and attractions, featuring vibrant cultural performances, exquisite local crafts, artisan stalls, and a diverse selection of food stalls. This event is a celebration of Goa’s rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural landscapes, offering visitors a chance to experience the state beyond its iconic sun, sea, and sand. Beyond creating memorable experiences, the festival is dedicated to fostering long-term benefits for local communities, preserving natural resources, and highlighting the unique charm of Goa’s hinterlands. A defining feature of the fest is the active involvement of the local community, empowering artisans, entrepreneurs, and adventure operators to showcase their talents and offerings, truly embodying the spirit of inclusive and sustainable tourism.”
Anchipaka stated that this is the first time such a festival will be held in the state. Under the festival, we are showcasing the natural attractions of the region. He emphasised on the Department of Tourism’s focus on the “Goa Beyond Beaches” initiative and on various aspects of Regenerative Tourism.
This festival marks another step in GTDC’s efforts to promote Goa’s diverse attractions beyond its beaches, emphasizing the state’s cultural richness and natural beauty. Dudhsagar Festavista is expected to attract both locals and tourists, making it a memorable celebration of the Christmas spirit in the serene backdrop of Collem.
