‘Homeguards’ will be eligible to get jobs in Goa Police Department on completion of their 20 years service provided that their ‘character and behaviour’ is exemplary, announced Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Wednesday; to spark tears of joy in the eyes of the ‘Homeguards’ fraternity, who have worked for decades together with hardly any facilities till now.
With the reservation up from 2 percent to 10 percent provided the Homeguards clear the examinations; the chances of making it to the Police Department, have also received a boost even before the completion of 20 years service.
The CM on Wednesday, had distributed 63 Homeguards the offer letters for their roles as Police. Although some will be eligible to get service for a few years due to their higher age, Dr Sawant congratulated the beneficiaries and acknowledged their dedication to their jobs.
The homeguards thanked the Chief Minister for providing the opportunity as they had worked without any expectations although being from humble backgrounds.
