PANAJI: Hosts Panjim Gymkhana beat Iqbal XI by 46 runs to win the Bandodkar T-20 Cricket Tournament at PG ground, Campal here.
Panjim Gymkhana won the toss and elected to bat. Suraj Dongre (39), Aniket Desai (37), Swapnil Malik (27 NO) and Robin D’Souza (28 NO) powered PG to a total of 171/6. Tushar Sawant (19/2), Mukhtar Kadri (49/2) and Basuraj Madar (26/1) were amongst the wickets for Iqbal XI.
In reply, Iqbal XI were all out for 125 in 18.5 overs. Sarfaraz Navaz (20 NO), Maruti Hoggi (20), Vaikash Desai (18), Amey Dhamsekar (18), Basavraj Madar (16) and Pushpashil Desai (10) all got the starts but failed to carry on.
Panjim Gymkhana’s Mahesh Baidkar and Sanjay Naik took three wickets each. Sahadev Khandolkar picked two while Atchit Sigwan took one wicket. The following prizes were awarded: Man of the match: Suraj Dongre, Best Bowler : Sahadev Khandolkar, Man of the Series : Avinash Gawas, Best Batsman : Amey Dhamshekar.
Giriraj Vengurlekar, grandson of late CM Bhausaheb Bandodkar, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Manoj Caculo, President of Panjim Gymkhana, Prashant Kakode, Member , Suresh Karapurkar, Treasurer of Panjim Gymkhana.
