Dr. Nisha Rakhesh, Head, International Strategy for Food and Environment, Western Sydney University, Australia, visited ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute recently to explore future collaborations for advanced research.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa welcomed Dr. Nisha Rakhesh and briefed about ICAR-CCARI. During the opening remarks of the interaction meeting with the scientist, Dr. Parveen Kumar highlighted the mandate and research activities of the Institute.
Dr. Nisha elaborated in detail on the current and ongoing research and collaboration opportunities of WSU. The scientist also explained, in brief, the research activities and possible areas of collaborative research. Some of the prominent areas of research for exploring future collaborations discussed were protected cropping, precision irrigation water management, carbon farming, in-situ water conservation, next-generation digital agriculture, sensor-based pest and disease identification and monitoring, etc.
Dr. Nisha also visited the low-cost, medium, and high-cost hydroponic green fodder production units and the fodder cafeteria. Dr. Mathala Juliet Gupta, Principal Scientist, Gopal Mahajan, Senior Scientist, and Dr. Uthappa A.R., Scientist, facilitated the visit and the meeting.
