The Goa Chapter of the Western India Regional Council (WIRC) of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), in association with the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Government of Goa, organised a Teachers’ Conference on “Empowering Educators” at GSCERT seminar hall, Porvorim Goa.
Held in the backdrop of Teachers’ Day, the conference focused on the evolving role of educators, continuous learning and preparing students for the changing professional landscape. The Conference was attended by 20 faculty from commerce Colleges and 80 teachers from Higher Secondary Schools across the state of Goa.
The conference provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, professional interaction and strengthening the connect between educators and the professional community. ICSI team now plans to visit all colleges and Higher Secondary Schools across Goa to create the awareness of ‘careers in Company Secretary’ among students.
The programme was graced by CS Dharmaraj J. Bhonsle, Practising Company Secretary and Advocate, and Bhushan K. Savoikar, Director of Higher Education, Government of Goa, as Chief Guests. Prof. (Dr.) Niyan Joseph Savio Marchon, Professor and Program Director, DHE, also addressed the gathering.
Eminent speakers CA Dr. Satyaprakash Kamath, CS Sarita D’Souza and CS Abhay R. Gulavani, FCS, shared their insights on professional development, governance, corporate law and contemporary learning practices.
The conference was organised under the leadership of CS Shantal Nayak, Chairperson, ICSI Goa Chapter, with the support of CS Swapnil Dixit, Former Chairperson; CS Rakhi Malkhankar, Secretary; and CS Pravin Dhapodkar, Vice Chairman, ICSI Goa Chapter.
