IM Nitish Belurkar (2352) clinched the silver medal at the Riga Technical University Open 2023 Blitz Chess tournament held in Latvia. A total of 152 players from 29 countries participated in the event.
Nitish scored 9.5 points out of 11 rounds, with a performance rating of 2555 and rating gain of 56.4 points.
GM Jobova Baadur ( 2576) of Georgia emerged the champion with 10.5 points while GM Pultinevicius Paulius (2596) of Lithuania was placed third with 9 points.
Nitish defeated IM Abdrlauf Elham (2481) of Norway, CM Tram Thahn Tu (2413) of Japan and drew with ultimate winner GM Jobova Baadur (2576) of Georgia.
Nitish will next participate in classical tournaments in Riga University, Latvia and Abu Dabhi Masters in Abu Dabhi, stated a press release.
