INDIA WINDFOILERS IN THE SPOTLIGHT AT ‘SAIL GOA 2023’ FROM TUESDAY

Goa Yachting Association (GYA) will host the ‘Sail Goa 2023’ Zonal Sailing Championships from 19th to 23th April 2023, at the Dolphin Adventure Sports Centre, Hawaii Beach; under the aegis of YAI and supported by Sports Authority of Goa.

The National Ranking Event for IQfoil and RS:X category and will witness India team member for Asian Games – Katya Coelho from Goa, in action. Jerome from AYN in the IQ foil, Ishwariya Ganesh of TNSA and Ebad Ali of AYN in the RS:X category, are also expected to put on a show of their supremacy and skill.

In the IQfoil men’s category, Goa’s Dayne Coelho will be fighting to improve his ranking after Dengue cost him his chance to qualify for the Asian Games.

The regatta, will see about 35 windsurfers across age-groups from all over the country, from Maharashtra, Orissa, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, Chennai, Karnataka and from the host state, displaying their skills to test who is ‘Best in India’.

For the first time in the country, we will have about 12 sailors in the wind-foiling category. It will be a great opportunity for the sailing enthusiasts to see them flying above the water.

The Jury under the Chairmanship of Col. Kanwar (International Judge, IJ) comprise of Col. Dikhit (NJ), Lt, Cdr Vyas (NJ), Capt Purnima Tiwari and Arjun Singh. The Race Committee will be comprised of Hav. Chandra Shekar Dalai (International Race Officer, IRO) and Hav. Naveen Kumar (NRO) and Naveen Kumar CPOAF and the Technical Committee will be headed by AN Swami, POCOM(National Measurer) and Russell Lobo.

The main sponsors are Organic India, leading brand in specialty teas, lifestyle products, cereals and more and Lourenco Marine, leading providers of Marine engines and powertrains. The event is supported O Pescador Beach Resort, Dolphin Adventure Sports, Decathlon and Magsons.
