PANAJI: A state-of-the art, working Plumbing Lab is set to take shape in Goa in the form of the ‘Centre of International Plumbing Practices’ (COIPP), which is a joint initiative of Goa Engineering College (GEC) and Indian Plumbing Association (IPA).
The Plumbing Lab over an area of 625 sqmt, will be a one-stop learning, knowledge and practice hub for plumbing and building fraternity. The Plumbing Lab will demonstrate latest plumbing equipment and fittings for every modern building – office, residential, hotels, hospitals and institutions.
Govind Gaude, Minister of Sports, Art & Culture, and RDA; laid the foundation stone for the COIPP, at Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi-Ponda. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) and other dignitaries from Directorate of Technical Education, Goa, GEC and IPA were also present.
Speaking at the occasion, Gaude said: “This is a welcome step to make Goa an education and skilling destination, as this lab will be visited by engineering and architecture students and building professionals from across the country. It will also strengthen Skill India Program by developing learning destination for imparting proper installation skills”.
Anil D. Sahasrabudhe added: “Plumbing is a science directly connected to human health, hygiene and environment. COIPP will showcase good plumbing practices and warnings on bad plumbing installations. This will not only increase the awareness on the significance of correct plumbing practices for healthy buildings but will also fill the learning gap that lies in this sphere of education.”
Gurmit Singh Arora, IPA National President, said: “This is a red-letter day for IPA as with this we start one of IPA’s biggest initiatives for building a healthy nation”.
COIPP is a joint initiative of Indian Plumbing Association, the apex body of Plumbing professionals in India and Goa Engineering College.
Goa being a holiday destination, this lab will be an iconic attraction featuring Codal based plumbing practices and the relationship between good health and correct plumbing installation for many to visit the Lab.
IPA is the only apex body of plumbing professionals in India having international affiliation. Indian Plumbing association develops Plumbing Labs under its Centre of Excellence, for best practices, research, support, training in the field of plumbing in India.
Indian Plumbing Association conducts a Learning and Skilling competition, IPPL (Indian Plumbing Professionals League) which empowers thousands of building professionals on correct plumbing practices every year. This lab will be a must visit destination for building and allied industry fraternity where plumbing plays an important role to gain practical knowledge.
