Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) has been selected to receive a grant of Rs 5 crore under the CITIIS 2.0 program. This prestigious award is part of the Government of India’s initiative to enhance sustainable urban development across the country. The grant will be used to support Panaji’s ongoing smart city projects, further contributing to the city’s  vision of becoming a model sustainable and tech-driven urban centre.

CITIIS 2.0 has been conceived by MoHUA, in collaboration with AFD, the German Development Bank (KfW), EU, and NIUA. The program is providing financial and technical assistance for promoting a circular economy through integrated waste management projects at the city level, climate-oriented reform actions at the state level, and institutional strengthening and knowledge management at the national level.

The Rs. 5 crore grant awarded to IPSCDL will be utilized for various initiatives under CITIIS 2.0, aimed at addressing climate action through a structured, multi-component plan. The first component involves establishing the State Climate Center for Cities (S-C3), which will serve as a centralized hub for climate-related strategies.

The second component focuses on setting up state and city-level climate data observatories to comprehensively monitor and analyze environmental data. The third component emphasizes enabling data-driven planning and implementation to ensure informed decision-making for sustainable urban development. Lastly, the fourth component is dedicated to capacity building for government officials across various departments such as Solid Waste Management, Water & Sanitation, Environment, Urban Forestry , Mobility and Finance , equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for effective climate and urban management strategies.

“We are delighted to be part of the CITIIS 2.0 program, as this grant will accelerate our efforts to create a smarter, more sustainable Panaji. Our goal is to integrate cutting-edge technologies that enhance both the quality of life and the environmental footprint of our city,” said Sanjit Rodrigues, the MD & CEO of IPSCDL. “This is a big step forward in our mission to make Panaji a model city in terms of urban sustainability and innovation,” he said.

This grant will play a crucial role in positioning Panaji as a leader in urban innovation and sustainability, paving the way for future projects that focus on improving infrastructure, resource efficiency and environmental responsibility.
