Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd. (IPSCDL) is leading the transformation of Panaji into a vibrant, tech-enabled and eco-friendly tourism destination through its innovative smart tourism projects. With key initiatives such as Gyan Setu, Yog Setu, the Mandovi River Promenade and soon to be developed new Promenade Spine at Patto, IPSCDL is enhancing the city’s appeal. One of the standout projects, the Mandovi River Promenade Restoration, features the “Tapaloka” Yog Kshetra, revitalising the area with yoga-inspired sculptures, bridges, and tranquil spaces for public yoga practices. The rejuvenation of Mandovi Promenade (Phase I) offers a peaceful riverside walk from Children’s Park to Miramar, including cycling tracks, seating areas and illuminated pathways for relaxation and physical activities. A lot of tourists are seen spending time at the Promenade and enjoying the scenic view of the River Mandovi . Another landmark, Gyan Setu, a cable-stayed footbridge over the Ourem Creek, connects Mala to the Central Library at Patto, offering locals and tourists an enriching experience of the bio-diversity , heritage and culture of the area.
Further enhancing the city’s infrastructure, IPSCDL has undertaken the rejuvenation of Steps (Altinho Phases I –Mala) , ( Altinho Phases II – Corte de oiteiro ( Near Panjim Church) , Altinho Steps Development near the Portuguese Consulate & Church Square, aim to renovate the steps with detailed architectural enhancements, transforming them into vibrant community assets. Maidan Beautification project has refurbished the iconic square, providing an open space for public events while enhancing its visual appeal.
The Miramar Beachfront Beautification has transformed the beachfront with boardwalks, outdoor gyms, and children’s play areas, creating an inviting space for recreational activities. Lastly, the Landscaping at Altinho Neighbourhood Greens introduces open spaces with pavilions, amphi-theaters and green gyms, offering new community areas for sports and relaxation.
IPSCDL is also on the brink of completing the “Development of a Pedestrian Spine and Revitalization of Patto Area” project, which spans 15,000 square meters. This project includes open spaces near the Central Library, a mangrove boardwalk, soft landscaping works, and an indoor amusement arena with a climbing wall. These new recreational spaces aim to enhance the area’s appeal to both tourists and locals, further boosting Panaji’s urban landscape.
Panaji’s transformation through these Smart City initiatives has garnered the attention of global event organizers, positioning the city as a premier destination for hosting international festivals and mega-events.
