KARISHMA SHIRVOIKAR LONE GOAN IN INDIAN WOMEN’S FOOTBALL TEAM, INJURED MICHELLE MISSES OUT ON UZBEK TOUR

PANAJI: Karishma P Shirvoikar is the lone Goan in Indian senior women’s national football team, which will play international friendly matches in Uzbekistan from March 26 to April 8, according to a press release by Goa Football Association.

Forward Karishma is among the 23-player squad selected by the All India Football Federation in view of the preparations for the forthcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022.

GFA president Churchill Alemao, GFA President, Chairperson of Women’s Football and Women’s Competitions Committee, Carol Gomes, Dy-Chairman Arnaldo Costa, all congratulated Karishma for retaining her place in the national squad and being the torch-bearer of Goan women’s football.

Meanwhile another Goan international Michelle Castanha, who was in the national camp, could not be considered for selection due to a severe knee injury and is currently undergoing treatment in Bengaluru, added the press release.
