Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant is keen to bring a ‘light and sound’ show to Goa and urged the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal to facilitate the request. He was speaking at the inauguration of India’s First Lighthouse Festival at the Fort Aguada on Saturday.
The historic Lighthouse at Fort Aguada looked spectacular during the light projection show and as such, the heritage monument that is a tourism hotspot with 15 thousand visitors per day; is bound to draw more tourists if a light and sound show debuts in Goa, according to the Chief Minister.
“If we get the permission to host the light and sound show at this ASI protected monument, it will be hailed as the gift of the Lighthouse Festival to the Government of Goa. It will also be a great achievement for tourism industry in Goa,” said the Chief Minister.
Dr Sawant also emphasised that Goa with its rich maritime history, is a befitting host for the Lighthouse Festival. He also stated that the Government endeavours to boost the maritime industry with the establishment of maritime cluster in the state.
