The hosts signed off with a bronze medal in Yogasana with Pradnya Gaikwad and Sanika Jadhav earning a third-place finish in the Artistic Pairs event of Yogasana competition at Campal Sports Village on the last day of the 37th National Games Goa 2023.
Goa notched up the ninth position in the Medal Tally with 92 medals, including 27 gold, 27 silver and 38 bronze.
Maharashtra topped the multi-sport extravaganza with 80 gold, 68 silver and 79 bronze for an aggregate medal count of 227, to bag the ‘Raja Bhalindra Singh Ever-Rolling Trophy’ for winning highest number of gold medals and total medals.
Having topped the Games in the last four occasions, defending champions Services finished in second position with 66 gold, 27 silver and 33 bronze while Haryana are in third spot with 59 gold, 54 silver and 73 bronze.
Vice-President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Governor of Goa PS Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Minister of State for Tourism, Shripad Naik, Sports Minister Govind Gaude, Indian Olympic Association president Dr PT Usha among other dignitaries.
Karnataka’s Srihari Nataraj clinched ‘Best Male’ Trophy for winning highest number of medals. Maharashtra’s Sanyukta Kale and Odisha’s Pranati Nayak bagged ‘Best Female’ Trophy for winning highest number of medals.
The 37th National Games in Goa came to a glittering end, at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium at Taleigao Plateau on Thursday evening.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) flag was then passed on to Uttarakhand, who will host the 38th National Games. Rekha Arya, Uttarakhand’s Minister of Sports, received the flag on behalf of the State.
