Goa’s sporting fraternity has received a significant recognition with Manoj Patil, President of the Goa Badminton Association, being nominated as part of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) team contingent for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, in Japan from September 25 to 30.

A former cricketer who represented Goa, Patil is also the Joint Secretary of Goa Olympic Association and was instrumental in the formation of the Goa Pickleball Association, where he currently serves as Advisor. His contribution to sport extends across disciplines, while his leadership in the sporting and social spheres has complemented his professional and entrepreneurial pursuits.

Patil is presently the Additional Private Secretary to the Chief Minister of Goa and is a Founder Trustee of the Vibrant Goa Foundation, which organised Goa’s largest Business Expo in October 2018 and again in November 2024. He has also made notable contributions to society through his leadership and involvement with Rotary, Jaycees, BNI and various social initiatives, besides conducting entrepreneurship and capacity-building programmes.
Goa Badminton Association congratulated Patil on the nomination.

GBA Secretary Praveen Shenoy congratulated Patil on the nomination, saying, “Manoj’s experience as a sportsperson and administrator, coupled with his efforts towards the development of sport in Goa, make this a fitting recognition of his contribution. We are proud to see him represent Goa in this capacity and wish him a memorable and fulfilling Asian Games assignment.”
