NATIONAL ONLINE CHESS: TAMIL NADU’S HARIKRISHNAN BEATS GOA’S NITISH BELURKAR TO BLITZ TITLE

PANAJI: IM Harikrishnan A Ra of Tamil Nadu
emerged the winner at the national online blitz chess tournament organised by Queens Chess and Cultural Club, Goa. Local boy, FM Nitish Belurkar clinched the runner-up spot.

Harikrishnan scored 8 points to top the competition, which drew a good response with a total of 131 players participating. The field included 14 titled players – 1 GM, 9 IM and 4 FM. IM Aronyak Ghosh of West Bengal was the top seed.

Apart from Nitish, other Goan players to do well in the event were: Devesh Naik finishing in the 12th place with 6.5 points, while Reuben Colaco (6 points) won 1st place in under-16 category while AIM Ethan Vaz (6 points) secured the top position in the under-10 category.

IM Mitrabha Guha, IM Raghunandan K S, GM Diptiyan Ghosh, IM Neelash Saha, IM Aronyak Ghosh, IM Bitan Banerjee, IM Sayantan Das and IM Srihari L R were placed from 3rd to 10th respectively.

Goa Chess Association secretary, Kishor Bandekar and TTCA joint-secretary Sanjay Belurkar also participated in this event.
