The Directorate of Agriculture organised Buyer-Seller Meet of agriculture produce Raw & Value-added for South Goa District on November 30 and December 1 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (South), Margao.

The Buyer-Seller meet is an event that connects buyers and sellers from various industries. This meet mostly focussed on organic products. It helped to connect organic product suppliers with buyers, promoting trade and commerce in the organic sector.

The event showcased various agri-products including rice, cereals, pulses, vegetables, fruits and value-added products of ‘Govan’ brand and others, with approximately 60 stalls being set up from various zones of South Goa District.

Along with the products display, various technical sessions imparted knowledge to the farmers and self help groups (SHG). Consultant on the Swayampurna Goa Board, Gautam Kharangate explained the importance of registering their products with the Swayampurna initiative so that the SHGs find new buyers not just across the state but beyond as well through the power of the Online mode.

Member Secretary of Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB), Dr Pradeep Sarmokadam highlighted the growth of ‘Govan’ brand of value added products and the significant self employment opportunities it has created. He also announced that the GSBB is in the process of extending their processing centres from the current number of two by another 10. He stressed on the scope for new entrepreneurs to come on board by making a standard packaged product with hygiene and consistency in preparations.
