NIO HOSTS OPEN DAY TO CELEBRATE 84TH FOUNDATION DAY OF CSIR, OVER 600 STUDENTS FROM ACROSS GOA VISIT

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO) celebrated the 84th Foundation Day of the CSIR by organising an Open Day on its campus at Dona Paula today, September 26th, 2025.

On the occasion, over 600 students along with their teachers from 15 different schools across Goa visited the institute and interacted with staff. The students also got an opportunity to visit NIO laboratories and various exhibits on marine resources and instruments. 

The NIO also screened various films and documentaries related to ocean sciences for the students with a motto of creating awareness among them about the topics.

In addition, a talk was delivered on ‘Careers in Oceanography’ which helped the students get to know about vast career opportunities in marine science and research.

The students showed keen interest in the exhibits on marine resources and instruments and were also briefed about the scientific endeavours in ocean research carried out at CSIR-NIO.

The CSIR’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in India by developing innovative, competitive, and sustainable solutions through scientific research and technological development, fulfilling the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
