Priority Titans consolidated their position as league leaders, defeating RC Goa by five wickets, while Manas Mavericks climbed to the second position in the ongoing PGML 2.0, beating Baale Tigers at Panjim Gymkhana ground.
Opting to bat first, Baale Tigers were bowled out for 90 runs in 17.4 overs with Manas Mavericks’ bowlers Shekhar Amonkar, Ajinkya Kudtarkar and Dhilan Shah taking two wickets each. For Baale Tigers, the only batter to offer resistance was opener Kapil Angle. The all-rounder scored a respectable 31 runs.
Manas Mavericks raced to the winning score in just 9.5 overs, scoring 92 for the loss of three wickets. Sameer Chodankar and Sunil Rathod scored 36 runs each in the easy run chase. Rathod was adjudged the man of the match and was the recipient of the Orange Cap.
In Sunday’s second encounter, RC Goa were all out for 129 runs against league leaders Priority Titans. The highlight of their innings was a blistering 40 in 23 balls, studded with five sixes, by captain Harshad Gadekar. Titans’ Muzaffar Kadri took four wickets for 10 runs in the stipulated three overs, which included the wickets of both RC Goa openers.
Titans scored 135 for the loss of five wickets, and thus won the match with five balls to spare. Prajyot Rivonkar top-scored with a quick 37 in 29 balls, while RC Goa’s Nilesh Bhonsle took two wickets for the 13 runs. Kadri was adjudged the man of the match for his stunning bowling spell.
On the Republic Day, Prescon Panthers will take on Manas Mavericks, while RC Goa will face Dempo Challengers.
