POSTAL DEPARTMENT TO HOLD INTERNATIONAL LETTER WRITING COMPETITION ON MARCH 15 AT 4 CENTRES IN GOA

The Department of Posts, Government of India, will organise the UPU 2026 International Letter Writing Competition for Young People at four locations in Goa on March 15th, 2026. The competition is being conducted as part of the annual global initiative of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) to promote creativity, critical thinking, and the art of letter-writing amongst school students.

The Department of Posts, Goa Division, Goa, will conduct the competition at Goa University, Saraswat Vidyalaya High School, Mapusa; A. J. De Almeida High School, Ponda, and Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim.

Children in the age group of 9 to 15 years are eligible to participate in the competition.

The participants must write a handwritten letter with maximum 800 words on the theme “Write a letter to a friend about why human connection matters in a digital world.”

Letters may be written in English or any language listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India. Further details are available on the official website of India Post: http://www.indiapost.gov.in
At the Circle level, prizes include ₹25,000, ₹10,000 and ₹5,000 for first, second and third places respectively while at the National level, prizes include ₹50,000, ₹25,000 and ₹10,000. The best national entry will represent India at the international level, where UPU will award medals, certificates, and other prizes. The Gold Medalist might also receive a visit to UPU Headquarters, Bern, Switzerland, or an alternative prize.
