PANAJI: Goa produced a winning performance in their opening Elite Group C match at senior women’s one-dayers trophy in Jaipur. Put into bat, Goa were in a precarious situation but contributions by Purvaja Verlekar (43) and Diksha Gawde (34 not out) among others, took the team to a fighting total of 173 runs. Captain Shikha Pandey took three wickets and marshalled her troops with all her international experience to bowl out Chandigarh for 95 runs as Goa won by 78 runs. Sanjula Naik provided great support picking up 3 wickets as well.
