PANAJI: In the ongoing Bandodkar Trophy (knock-out) cricket tournament, Sunny and Rudreshwar won their respective matches on Friday. The tournament is organised by Panjim Gymkhana.
Sunny beat Stamina CC by 26 Runs at PG ground, Campal; while Rudreshwar defeated Manorva by 7 wickets at GCA Academy ground at Porvorim. Stamina won the toss and elected to bowl. Sunny posted 206/8 in 42 overs. Sanket M top-scored with 69 runs. Ashok R (39) and Sahadev K (21 NO) made important contribution. Stamina’s Vipul D took three wickets while Yogesh N claimed two wickets.
In reply, Stamina were restricted to 180/9 in 42 overs. Arjun was the top run-getter with an unbeaten 54 to his credit. Promod N scored 32 runs. Sunny’s Vinod (3/50) and Mayur (2/30) were the top wicket-takers.
In the other match, Rudreshwar won the toss and elected to bowl. They did a good job as Manorva were bowled out for 106 runs in 30.1 overs. Only Rohan Bhonsle (45 off 72 balls) got into double digits.
For Rudreshwar, Anand Majalikar took 4 wickets while Pundalik Naik scalped three. In reply, Rudreshwar raced to 110/3 in 18.5 overs. Majority of their runs came from Switesh Vernekar (39) and Sumit Singh (26).For Manorva, Ganesh Phadte took two wickets.
