Mohammed Umar and Sufiya Shaikh emerged as triple-crown winners, while Amaira Dhumatker, Pragya Audi, Saanvi Audi, Arnav Saraf and Shaheen C K completed double-crown performances as the State Badminton Ranking Tournament, organised by Radiant Sports Club in association with Goa Badminton Association and SAG and powered by Ritesh Ravi Naik, concluded at the Multipurpose Stadium, Ponda.
Umar began his title haul with a 15-8, 15-13 victory over Aaryan Karpe in U15 Boys’ Singles before defeating Arnav Saraf 15-12, 15-9 in the U17 final. He completed his treble with Niharika Parwar in U15 Mixed Doubles, where they edged past Ateendra Gaonkar and Palak Ramnathkar 15-12, 13-15, 15-8.
Sufiya proved equally successful, defeating Shivanjali Thite 15-11, 15-11 in U19 Girls’ Singles before teaming up with Shivanjali to prevail over Aarohi Coutoncar and Dimple Revankar 15-4, 10-15, 15-11 in Girls’ Doubles. She completed her triple crown with Shaheen C K, registering a 15-8, 15-8 win over Aswin Mannambalath and Aarohi Coutoncar in Mixed Doubles.
Amaira Dhumatker clinched the U13 Girls’ Singles crown with a convincing 15-8, 15-5 win over Komal Kothari and then partnered Komal to a 15-6, 15-4 victory over Aditi Dhargalkar and Kanika Pai Vernekar in Girls’ U13 Doubles.
Pragya Audi secured the U15 Girls’ Singles title with a 15-7, 16-14 win over Niharika Parwar and partnered sister Saanvi to a commanding 15-7, 15-2 victory over Isha Borkar and Jewel Abranches in U17 Girls’ Doubles. Saanvi completed her double after a thrilling 11-15, 16-14, 15-8 comeback win over Amaira in U17 Girls’ Singles. Arnav Saraf added the U17 Boys’ Doubles title with Shane D’Souza, beating Sparsh Kolwalkar and Sudhanva Udupa 15-10, 15-10, before teaming up with Dimple Revankar to get past Linesh Virnodkar and Arya Shinkre 15-13, 15-8 in U17 Mixed Doubles.
Shaheen C K completed his double alongside Aswin Mannambalath in U19 Boys’ Doubles, where they defeated Shaurya Naik and Soham Naik 15-6, 15-11. Elsewhere, Michael Mare defeated Pratik Naik Borkar 15-10, 15-7 for the U13 Boys’ Singles title, while Pratik teamed up with Varun Sahakari to beat Mihir Chafadkar and Vedh Lotliker 15-12, 15-11 in Boys’ Doubles. Samarth Sakhalkar and Vishwa Parab edged Ateendra Gaonkar and Viraditya Pai Kane 15-12, 12-15, 15-12 in U15 Boys’ Doubles, while Avni Khyalia and Palak Ramnathkar secured the U15 Girls’ Doubles title with a 15-6, 15-8 win over Astha Poudel and Kanika Pai Vernekar. Top seed Advait Balakrishnan capped the U19 singles action with a commanding 15-13, 15-3 victory over Rutav Kanabar.
In Boys’ U15, Aaryan Karpe upset second seed Michael Mare to reach the finals versus top seed Mohammad Umar. In U19 Boys, sixth seed Rutav Kanabar upset second seed Shaheen C K 11-15, 15-13, 15-10 to set up the final against top seed Advait Balakrishnan who edged past Soham Naik 13-13, 15-9 in the other semifinal. Saanvi Audi stunned top seed Dimple Revankar 15-12, 15-6 in Girls’ U17 and will meet rising talent Amaira Dhumatker, who upset Niharika Parwar (2) 14-16, 19-17, 15-8. Palak Ramnathkar also impressed, reaching both U15 Girls’ Doubles and U15 Mixed Doubles finals, besides causing a major upset by defeating in-form Amaira in U15 quarterfinals. Saanvi will also contest the U17 Girls’ Doubles final with sister Pragya Audi against Isha Borkar and Jewel Abranches.
Other singles finals will see Michael Mare clash with Pratik Naik Borkar (U13 Boys), Amaira Dhumatker meet Komal Kothari (U13 Girls), Mohammed Umar will take on Arnav Saraf (U17 Boys), Pragya Audi face Niharika Parwar (U15 Girls), and Sufiya Shaikh battle Shivanjali Thite (U19 Girls). Meanwhile, Amaira Dhumatker, Mohammed Umar, Arnav Saraf, Shaheen C K, Sufiya Shaikh, Niharika Parwar, Palak Ramnathkar, Saanvi Audi, Pragya Audi, Dimple Revankar, Shivanjali Thite, Komal Kothari, Kanika Pai Vernekar, Ateendra Gaonkar, Aswin Mannambalath and Aarohi Coutoncar will vie for multiple titles.
