RECORD 215 ENTRIES FOR BAALE BPS OPEN 2024 ALL-GOA RANKING TENNIS

More than 200 entries for participation, have been received in the debut edition of the Baale BPS Open 2024 – an all-Goa ranking tennis tournament, set to commence on April 27 at the B.P.S Sports Club in Margao.

The state-level ranking tennis tournament has been supported by Baale Resort Goa; and organised by the prestigious B.P.S Sports Club under the aegis of Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA).

According to the organisers, a total of 215 entries marks the highest turnout ever seen in any Goa state-level tennis tournament.

The tournament will feature a boys and girls under-10 category. In the open category, 12 participants have registered for the under-10 category, including nine boys and three girls. For the under-14 category, 33 participants have registered, with 23 boys and 10 girls signing up for the event. In the under-18 category, there are 22 boys and seven girls who have registered. 17 pairs have registered for the mixed doubles category, while 25 pairs have registered for the men’s doubles event. 14 women’s players and 49 men’s players have registered in the respective singles categories.

In the veterans’ segment, 15 registrations have been received for the veterans 45+ singles category, while eight pairs have registered for the veteran’s 45+ doubles category. Nine players have signed up for the veterans 55+ singles event and four teams for the veterans 55+ doubles event.

“It is encouraging to see such active participation not just in teenagers and adults. The introduction of an u-10 category for boys and girls at the Baale BPS open 2024 reflects the interest shown by younger sportspersons towards tennis,” says Deepak Nahak, the Tournament Director.
