The inaugural deployment of the Mobile Passport Seva Van was held today at the Vasco Municipality Office, Vasco Town. The service was officially inaugurated by NRI Commissioner Narendra K. Sawaikar in the presence of Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, Regional Passport Officer Nijo Varghese and other dignitaries.
A total of 20 appointments were released for the day, and all applicants attended with the required documents.
Speaking on the occasion, Narendra K. Sawaikar, NRI Commissioner, said that the Passport Seva Mobile Van service initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs was aimed at bringing passport services directly to the citizens. “Today, the Passport Seva Mobile Van service is being launched in Vasco town. This marks the first time such a service is being introduced in the state of Goa.
The first applicant is a 91-year-old lady, who does not need to travel all the way to Panaji as her passport application will be processed right here in her hometown of Vasco. Several other senior citizens who have come today will also benefit from this service,” he said.
The Commissioner appealed the people of Goa to take advantage of the facility by booking appointments whenever it is available in their respective towns and villages. He also thanked all the MLAs and dignitaries present at the event for their support and cooperation for organising the event in Vasco.
Applicants can book appointments for the Mobile Passport Seva Van through the official website www.passportindia.gov.in. The deployment dates and locations will be announced by the RPO well in advance.
The van is equipped to facilitate key services such as application submission, document verification, and biometric data collection.
