Goa’s Dayne Coelho took 2 guns out of 4 to maintain his lead over Jerome Kumar at the Sail Goa 2023 in progress at Hawaii beach, Dona Paula.
The dawn bought bright sunlight and promises of great wind throughout the day. The visit of the Sports Minister, Govind Gaude further lifted the spirits of the sailors and the organisors. He inspected the venue finalised for the Yachting Discipline for the 37th National Games to be held in Goa. He personally met and encouraged the Goan sailors. He congratulated Goa Yachting Association on organising such a big event in the state and was keen to understand the racing format, equipment used and various other aspects of the sport and went out on the water to flag off the races today where he witnessed Goa’s Dayne Coelho take the gun in a photo finish. The IQfoil races today were held on a slalom course which was fast and exciting to watch.
In the IQfoil Mens category, Dayne Coelho of GYA took 2 guns out of 4 to maintain his lead over Jerome Kumar of AYN who took 2 guns to keep the compettion alive going into the last day on Sunday.
Katya Coelho of GYA continued her brialliant run and took the gun in all the 4 races of the day and has consolidated her position at the top of the fleet.
In the RS:X category Ebad Ali took all 4 guns to show why he is the top ranked sailor in his category.
Chennaih of EMESC took all the 4 guns in the Rcaebord Men’s vategory and secured his gold medal while the fight for the Silver medal will go into the last day between Kamalapati of EMESC and NS Rawat of INWTC Goa.
In the RS:One category Ganesh Viswakarma of TSC took 3 Guns out of 4 to maintain his lead over Narayan Munda of OYA who managed to claw back by winning the last gun of the day and keep his gold medal hopes alive.
The last day of the championship promises to be exciting as most of the categories will witness a fight till the last race to decide the medalists.
