Goa’s Katya Coelho continued her dominance on Day 2 of Sail Goa 2023 – Zonal Sailing Championship, at Hawaii beach, Dona Paula on Friday.
With over 40 participants in various categories, the national yachting event being organised by Goa Yachting Association, is serving as a precursor for the 37th National Games to be hosted in Goa later this year.
India team-member for upcoming Asian Games, Katya took the gun in all 3 races of the day in the IQFoil women’s category. Her brother Dayne Coelho stretched his lead ahead of Jerome Kumar of AYN by 4 points and took 2 guns out of the 3 races today.
In the RS:X men’s category, the top trio of Ebad Ali and Ved Pathak of AYN and Mithelesh Kumar of EMESC continued their stellar performance and maintained their positions.
Narayan Munda of Orissa Yachting Association is taking fight to Ganesh Vishvakarma of Trishna Sailing Club and took 2 guns out of 3 to close the gap between them in the RS:One Open Youth category.
Abhinav Yadav of EMESC took 1 gun out of three to give strong competition to the leader of the pack Aditya Sangwan of AYN in the Open Foil category.
In the Raceboard category in the men’s division, DP Chennaih of EMESC took all 3 guns again to maintain his top spot while NS Rawat of INWTC Goa barely managed to hold on to his second place ahead of Kamalapati of EMESC.
In the Youth boys division, N Vamshi of INWTC Goa mainatained his first place ahead of Adarsh Chunekar of GYA and NVSK Vishwesh while in Grandmasters division Gopal Amin of GYA took all 3 guns and is ahead of Brig. PC Roy and Capt Subramanian of INWTC Goa, who are tied with 13 points each. In the Topper Class, Jogendar Thakur of EMESC is ahead of Raiti Babaji of Jellyfish Water Sports.
