SERENDIPITY ARTS FESTIVAL GOA RETURNS WITH LANDMARK 10TH EDITION

Serendipity Arts Festival, India’s premier multi-disciplinary arts festival, returns to Panaji for its landmark 10th edition from December 12-21, 2025. This year’s festival transforms the city into a living canvas with immersive exhibitions, dynamic performances, interactive workshops, and public art installations across multiple iconic venues.

Terra Grove: Architectural Marvel at Miramar Beach
At Miramar Beach, Serendipity Arts Festival unveiled renowned architect Vinu Daniel’s latest installation – Terra Grove, transforming the beachfront with a reimagination of how public spaces can be inviting, responsive, and sustainable in Goa’s sun-drenched, tropical landscape.

Speaking about Terra-grove (sometimes called kulhad pavilion), architect Vinu Daniel said, “Kulhads or mud cups used to be the most familiar sight at railway stations, strewn across train tracks . Today, our beaches also face a similar challenge and have become the prime spot where all of the waste we have discarded comes crashing back.

This kulhad pavilion, made entirely with these mud cups  is not only a reminder of the sheer amount of waste, but how it can also be used positively and become a shade to the many who travel to Miramar beach. These unreinforced kulhad vaults meander across the side of the beach providing a shade/ a home to  both humans and animals alike.”

Crafted from terracotta Guna tiles, the structure cools the surrounding area while blending seamlessly into Miramar Beach’s landscape, evoking a sense of harmony with nature. Terra Grove was conceived as part of Thukral and Tagra’s 2024 project, Multiplay, and is supported by Milton and Panjim Smart Cities.

“As Sustainability Partner at the Serendipity Arts Festival for the second consecutive year, Milton is proud to champion initiatives that echo our long-standing commitment to sustainable living. Our focus on durable, reusable solutions—such as our steel bottle range—encourages consumers to choose better alternatives and reduce single-use waste in their everyday lives. Terra Grove is a powerful expression of this belief, demonstrating how thoughtful design can strengthen our connection with nature. We are pleased to support an installation that advances the conversation on sustainability in such a compelling and impactful way”, stated Milton commenting on the partnership.

“We are thrilled to have the Serendipity Arts Festival (SAF) return to Panaji on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the festival, which is one of South Asia’s largest multidisciplinary arts initiatives. The festival has been synonymous with the historic city of Panaji, which is one of the 100 selected smart Indian cities being shaped into citizen-friendly, sustainable urban centres, focusing on multi-sectoral projects focused on infrastructure, governance and digital solutions. The continued presence of the SAF in Panaji for a decade has added a rich layer of contemporary art and culture to the emerging smart city’s social tapestry”, said Sandip Jacques (IAS), Managing Director and CEO, Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited.

Public Art Across Festival Venues: A City-Wide Cultural Celebration
This landmark edition, Serendipity Arts Festival, activates a constellation of heritage and public venues across Panaji, each offering unique artistic experiences.
“Panjim and Serendipity Arts Festival have grown together over the past decade. What started as a bold artistic vision has become an integral part of our city’s cultural fabric. Panjim becomes host to the best from around the world, and we as people of Panjim support development through a cultural lens—revitalizing our public spaces, strengthening community bonds, and inspiring new ways of experiencing our city. We welcome artists, curators, and art lovers from across the world to experience the magic that happens when art spills into our streets, our heritage spaces, and the very heart of our city,” said the Mayor of the city of Panaji, Rohit Monserrate.

Reflecting on this special milestone edition, Smriti Rajgarhia, Director of Serendipity Arts, expressed:
“As we mark our 10th edition, public art will speak directly to the soul of Panjim—its heritage, its communities, and its evolving urban landscape. Each installation across the city will be designed as an encounter: a moment that encourages reflection, curiosity, and connection. Public art enables us to democratise culture, and across ten days, this year’s Festival will celebrate that spirit by making art an integral part of the city’s daily rhythm.”

Across Goa, public art takes centre stage as the Festival transforms everyday spaces into creative encounters. Visitors will experience large-scale installations, immersive environments, and participatory works that invite them to walk, pause, listen, and engage. This year through large-scale installations across Panjim’s heritage streets and waterways, Diptej Vernekar, through Beasts of Reincarnation: Mythical Beings in the City, will reimagine Goa’s living traditions of effigy-making, where demons, deities, and imagined creatures are born and reborn each year through community rituals. Venues such as Art Park, Azad Maidan, and the Old GMC Complex come alive with interactive projects, hands-on workshops, and multidisciplinary showcases that activate the city’s parks, promenades, heritage corridors, and waterfronts. From Multiplay 02: Soft Systems by Thukral & Tagra to craft-led exhibitions like Home is Where the Heart Is and Infinite Drape, the programming highlights the Festival’s belief that art in public spaces can spark dialogue, curiosity, and a sense of shared ownership.

This year’s edition further expands the scale and ambition of public-facing works by extending programming across multiple nodes of Panjim. The Directorate of Accounts, PWD Complex, Captain of Ports Jetty (Old Goa), Santa Monica Jetty, and SAG Ground collectively form a vibrant cultural circuit where installations, performances, culinary projects, and craft exhibitions coexist with the city’s natural landscape and architectural heritage. By blurring the boundaries between the formal and the everyday, the Festival turns Goa into an open gallery—inviting residents, travellers, families, students, and first-time visitors to experience art as part of the city’s rhythm and daily movement.

A Festival for Everyone
As the Serendipity Arts Festival celebrates its 10th edition, it continues to champion the idea that art belongs to everyone. From Terra Grove’s architectural innovation at Miramar Beach to the IPRS Stage performances at Azad Maidan, from major exhibitions across historic venues to intimate workshops and accessibility programming, the festival invites participation, sparks curiosity, and brings communities together through the transformative power of art.
