The ‘Late Shripad V. Kamat Tarcar & Late Anusuya S. Kamat Tarcar’ Memorial Women’s State Chess Championship-cum-Selection Tournament 2026 commenced at the Mahalaxmi Prasadik Hindu Vachan Mandir in Mala, Panaji, on Saturday.
The two-day tournament is being organised by the Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association (TTCA) under the aegis of the Goa Chess Association, and in collaboration with the Mahalaxmi Prasadik Hindu Vachan Mandir.
Chaitanya Tarcar, who made the ceremonial first move on the top board against young chess talent Vaishnavi Parab, was the chief guest. Arvind Mhamal (IA, Chief Arbiter and Secretary, TTCA), Dattaram Pinge (Tournament Coordinator and Treasurer, TTCA), Atish Angle, Pallavi Kakodkar were also present.
Chaitanya Tarcar and family has been conducting the women’s state championship for last 13 years. A total of 60 players have taken part in this year’s tournament.
At the end of 2 rounds, following players have collected 2 points each – WCM Swera Braganca, WCM Gunjal Chopdekar, Asmi Terse, Lyia Silveira, Vaishnavi Prab, Vania Dukle, Israa Rikarty, Skyla Rodrigues, Krutika Aggarwal, Anvi Desai, Janelly Vaz, Aarna Sawant, Aaradhya Sawant, Aarya Kamat Helekar.
