IM Alexander Slizhevsky (2340, RUS) and IM Semetei Tologon Tegin (2351, KGZ) are in joint lead with a perfect score of 5 points each at the end of five rounds of the Late Shri Manohar Parrikar 3rd Goa International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament 2025 being held at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Taleigao, Goa. Hot on their heels with 4.5 points each are GM Alexei Fedorov (2409, BLR) and GM Sayantan Das (2434, WB), who are maintaining strong contention for the title. Close behind with 4 points each is a competitive pack of 15 players, including the tournaments top rated players GM Diptayan Ghosh (2569, RSPB), GM Sethuraman S.P. (2560, TN), GM Mitrabha Guha (2509, WB), and IM Ethan Vaz (2412, GOA), who continues to deliver a consistent performance in this prestigious tournament organized by the Goa Chess Association under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation (AICF).

The highlight of the day was IM Alexander Slizhevsky’s crucial win against GM Sethuraman S.P., which allowed him to maintain his lead. IM Semetei Tologon Tegin also scored an important victory over IM Nitin S. (2338, TN) to stay in joint lead. Another key result was GM Alexei Fedorov’s win against GM Siddharth Jagadeesh (2516, SGP), further solidifying his position in the leading pack. Meanwhile, GM Diptayan Ghosh was held to a draw by FM Nguyen Quoc Hy (2418, VIE), allowing other contenders to catch up. GM Mitrabha Guha and GM Nguyen Duc Hoa played out a well-fought draw, while GM Sayantan Das secured an impressive win over IM Saravana Krishnan (2244, KVB), placing himself among the top chasers. 

Goa players continued their impressive run on Day four. IM Ethan Vaz (2412, GOA) held IM Aronyak Ghosh (2544, RSPB) to a well-fought draw, keeping him in the top bracket with 4 points. GM Anurag Mhamal (2499, GOA) drew his game against FM Arjun Adireddy (2327, TEL), while IM Ameya Audi (2422, GOA) scored a commendable win against CM Vedant Varasada (2154, GUJ). IM Ritviz Parab (2371, GOA) also registered an important victory, defeating WCM Charvi A. (2087, KAR), taking all three host players, Anurag, Audi and Parab to 3.5 points each after five rounds.

As the tournament enters a critical phase, all eyes will be on the players in the leading group as they battle it out in the 5 remaining rounds. With Goa’s Ethan Vaz staying in close contention and other host players achieving good results, the excitement continues to build in this high-stakes competition.
