Sonics retained the Junior Girls title they won last year with a convincing 38-22 win over Don Bosco Sports Academy, Fatorda in the State Junior Basketball Championships 2026, the selection tournament for the 76th Junior National Basketball Championship.
Played at the Don Bosco College of Engineering Outdoor Court, Fatorda, and organised by Panjim Basketeers Club in aegis with the Goa Basketball Association, Sonics dominated from the start. They led 10-3 in the first quarter and maintained their advantage through consistent play across all quarters, with quarter-wise scores reading 10-3, 10-9, 6-4, and 12-6, sealing the match 38-22.
Kim D’Souza was the standout performer with 17 points, well supported by Enira Fernandes who added 9 points, Keiya Fernandes with 7, and Ace Moraes contributing 4. For DBSA Fatorda, Aanora Gracias scored 9 points, while Itcha Nalawde and Bianca Pereira added 6 and 5 points respectively.
Ace Moraes was adjudged MVP of the finals, while Kim D’Souza was named MVP of the tournament. Earlier in the semifinals, Sonics overwhelmed Ponda Basketball Club 49-4, with Kim D’Souza scoring 16 points and earning MVP honours with Keiya Fernandes contributing 12. In the other semifinal, DBSA Fatorda defeated Sharada Mandir 28-10, with Natalie Fernandes and Itcha Nalawde, who scored 6 points each, sharing the MVP award.
