Sporting Clube de Goa on Tuesday, announced Dipankur Sharma as the club’s new head coach. Sharma, an AFC ‘A’ License holder with more than a decade of coaching experience across India’s football pyramid, joins the club as it looks to build on its Goa Pro League 2025-26 title and push further on the I-League 2 stage.

Sharma brings a track record of taking young and developing squads and giving them structure and identity. Most recently, he has served as Head Coach of Chanmari FC in Aizawl, Mizoram, where in an earlier stint he led the club to promotion from I-League 2 to the I-League after only a three-week pre-season. Before returning to Chanmari FC again in IFL, he spent time with Diamond Harbour FC in Kolkata, where he led the reserve side to a runner-up finish in the Calcutta Football League while assisting with the first team.

To be given the opportunity to lead a club of this stature is a privilege, but also a responsibility I am determined to repay with hard work, ambition and results,” said the newly appointed head coach Dipankur Sharma.
A dual degree holder who also graduated in law (BBA LLB) from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, and Business Administration, Sharma was born in Goa and spent part of his early years in the state.
“Goa has always had a special connection with the beautiful game. Sporting Clube de Goa is a club with a proud history and a strong identity, and there is a lot of talent here. My goal is to help these players believe in themselves, develop their game and compete at the highest level,” Sharma said.
His coaching career also includes spells with Kodagu FC in Bengaluru, where he led one of the youngest sides in the BDFA Super Division playing an aggressive, attacking brand of football, and Corbett FC, whom he guided in the I-League 2 season 2022-23. Earlier, as Head Coach of the U16 squad at Reliance Foundation’s Elite Youth Scheme, one of only two AFC 2-Star rated academies in India, he focused on developing players’ game intelligence at a formative stage.
Sharma was also one of the first Indian coaches to take up a coaching contract abroad, serving as Head Coach at FutAcademy in Mexico City, where he worked on game-based training methods and started ‘Covid Tactics,’ an initiative to engage and educate players on the tactical side of the game.
“In the seasons ahead, I intend to embrace the Goan flair and character while bringing the intensity and tactical discipline that my teams have always been known for,” Sharma said.
“We want to develop a clear style of play that the people of Goa will enjoy watching, while maintaining the consistency and competitiveness needed to achieve results on the pitch,”He further added.
Sporting Clube de Goa will be seen in action in a charity match against Dempo Sports Club, scheduled for 12th September 2026 at Raia Panchayat Ground, kicking off at 4:00 PM.
“I’m excited about the journey ahead and look forward to building a successful chapter with the club,” he added.
