ST. JOSEPH VAZ COLLEGE HOSTS SCI-PI 3.0: CELEBRATING INNOVATION IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

St. Joseph Vaz College hosted Sci-Pi 3.0, an inter-higher secondary event for science stream students, on 11 January, 2025 in the college campus, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from eight higher secondary schools from across Goa. This initiative aimed to showcase young talent while promoting the college’s academic and cultural values.

The Administrator, Rev. Prof. Simão R. Diniz, in his address, highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern society, emphasizing both its potential to revolutionize industries and its ethical challenges. The Chief Guest, Shambhu Coulekar, also shared insights on the importance and implications of AI, inspiring participants to engage with the theme critically and creatively. Both dignitaries extended their best wishes to the participants for the sub-events.

Komal Gawade, the event coordinator, provided an overview of Sci-Pi 3.0, emphasizing its role in fostering creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration among students. The inaugural ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by the Acting Principal, Angela Serrao.

The theme for Sci-Pi 3.0 was “Artificial Intelligence: Unlocking the Future,” and the event featured six engaging sub-events designed to challenge the participants’ intellect, creativity, and teamwork. The competitions saw impressive displays of talent and ingenuity, culminating in the announcement of winners during the valedictory function.

Winner: “St. Andrew High School, Vasco Da Gama”

• AIGNITE Your Fitness:

Runners-up: “Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim”;

Winner: “Shantadurga Higher Secondary School, Sancoale”

• AI Time Travelling in Biology:

Runners-up: “Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Verna”;

Winner: “Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim”

• The Elemental Runway:

Runners-up: “Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim”;

Winner: “Rosary Higher Secondary School”

The event concluded with the announcement of the overall champions, with “St. Andrew High School, Vasco Da Gama” securing the runners-up position and “Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim” being crowned as the overall winners of Sci-Pi 3.0.

Sci-Pi 3.0 served as a testament to the college’s commitment to nurturing future leaders in science and technology while fostering a deeper understanding of AI’s implications in our world. The event was not only a celebration of academic brilliance but also a platform for building camaraderie and exchanging ideas among young minds.
