St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa and The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the Peace Education Program (PEP) among students and educators, supporting holistic development, well-being and value-based education.
Established in 1963, St. Xavier’s College is one of the leading institutions of higher education in North Goa, recognised for its academic excellence and commitment to holistic and value-based education. The collaboration with TPRF further strengthens the institution’s efforts to nurture well-rounded individuals equipped with the skills and inner resources needed to navigate personal, academic and professional challenges.
The MoU was signed by Ursula Barreto, Principal, St. Xavier’s College, Goa, and Dr. Avinasha Sharma, representing The Prem Rawat Foundation. Maria Difa Fernandes, Point of Contact from St. Xavier’s College, and Niyati Patre, Point of Contact from TPRF, will coordinate the implementation of the initiative. Other members of the TPRF team, including Rajeshree and Anil, joined the ceremony. Fr. Ramrio Luis was also present on the occasion.
Experiential Learning for Inner Development
The Peace Education Program, developed by The Prem Rawat Foundation, adopts an experiential and reflective learning approach that encourages participants to explore practical ways of developing self-awareness, recognising their innate value, discovering inner strength and cultivating peace in everyday life.
Through engaging activities, video-based learning and interactions, participants are encouraged to strengthen appreciation, intentional decision-making, resilience, clarity and interpersonal relationships—qualities that contribute to both professional effectiveness and personal well-being.
The program consists of ten interactive, video-based workshops centred on the universal themes of Peace, Appreciation, Self-Awareness, Inner Strength, Clarity, Understanding, Dignity, Choice, Hope and Contentment.
The Peace Education Program has been conducted in 84 countries, translated into more than 40 languages, and has reached over 7,50,000 participants worldwide. The program has received widespread recognition for its positive contribution to personal well-being, resilience and professional effectiveness.
Available through SWAYAM Plus
In India, the Peace Education Program has also been made available through the SWAYAM Plus platform under the Ministry of Education, enabling educators, students and lifelong learners across the country to access the program through the Government of India’s digital learning ecosystem.
Its availability through SWAYAM Plus further supports its integration into India’s evolving higher education landscape and provides learners with an opportunity to engage with the program in a structured academic environment.
Alignment with NEP 2020
The collaboration between St. Xavier’s College and The Prem Rawat Foundation strongly aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises holistic development, well-being, values and the development of learners’ social and emotional capabilities.
By equipping students and teachers with practical tools for self-awareness, emotional resilience, clarity, inner strength and peace, the initiative seeks to contribute to a positive learning environment, strengthen student engagement and support meaningful educational experiences.
The partnership represents a shared commitment by St. Xavier’s College and The Prem Rawat Foundation to place human well-being and inner development alongside academic learning, empowering young people and educators to discover their inner resources and contribute positively to their communities and society.
