SUNFEAST INDIA ‘MOVE AS ONE’ KICKS OFF, FOCUS ON CHILDREN IN DISTRESS DURING PANDEMIC

PANAJI: The Sunfeast India Move As One (erstwhile Sunfeast India Run as One) kicked off on India’s 75th Independence Day with massive support from a host of influential personalities, including but notwithstanding, sporting icon Haile Gebrselassie, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, actor Rahul Bose, social worker Priya Dutt and actor Tara Sharma, states a press release.

The movement has also garnered support from world-class ASICS athletes – Olympic medallist wrestler Sakshi Malik, one of the world’s leading wicket-taker Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Grand Slam mixed doubles winner Rohan Bopanna, Indian tennis player Karman Kaur Thandi and Asian Championships silver medallist T Gopi.

Participants from across the country have united to join the Sunfeast India Move As One, carrying out their choice of activity – run, walk, jog, cycle, use a wheelchair, treadmill, or stationary bike at their own location and convenient time, to strive towards supporting children in distress affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The second edition of the Sunfeast India Move As One will primarily focus on – education including academic support, career guidance and skill-building, nutrition and hygiene requirements, healthcare, and provision of child protection and psychosocial support that will allow children to cope with the complexities around them.

“So many kids have lost their parents and our society has to take care of them. This is a very good cause. We walk and move the lives of those who are stuck. It’s necessary to support kids and we need to give them physical, emotional and spiritual comfort. So everyone walk and run for this cause and keep walking every day. Don’t just walk on only one day. All the best,” said Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder of the Art of Living & The International Association for Human Values.

“I am taking part in India Move As One to bring light to the children, who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Requesting all to please join this movement according to your convenience. You can, jog, walk, cycle or even use a wheelchair. We all have the strength to make a change in children’s lives and therefore we must register for this event. Let’s move for good,” said Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik.

Over 250 million children have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and therefore it brings me great joy to see the entire nation come together to support the children in distress through the Sunfeast India Move As One. The initiative is a perfect platform for one and all to change millions of lives by just registering and carrying out a simple physical activity. So let’s move to make a difference,” said two-time Olympic gold medallist Haile Gebreselassie.

At INR 149, Sunfeast India Move As One encourages participants to run, walk, jog, cycle, use a wheelchair, treadmill, or stationary bike. INR 50 from every registration will go directly towards NGOs supporting children causes empaneled with GiveIndia for Sunfeast India Move As One.

Registrations for the Sunfeast India Move As One will continue till 13th Sep 2021. The movement commenced on 15th Aug 2021 and will continue till 15th Sep 2021. Participants will have the opportunity to fundraise until 30th Sep 2021. For more details log on to: sunfeastindiamoveasone.procam.in.
