Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant under the flagship programme Swayampurna Goa 2.0, launched Bima Sakhi Yojana; thus making Goa the first state in the country to do so.
The mega launch function attended by around a thousand women from 18 to 70 years age-group, was organised by Directorate of Planning Statistics & Evaluation Government of Goa in collaboration with Life Insurance Corporation of India at Raj Bhavan Dona Paula on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister emphasised that Goa needs at least 1000 ‘Bima Sakhis’ and expressed confidence that Goan women will provide an excellent service as part of the government initiative that stands to benefit the ‘Bima Sakhis’ with monthly stipend, and bonus on completing a designated number of policies.
“Bima Sakhi Yojana seeks to empower women and enhance insurance coverage at the grassroots level, driven by the vision of ‘Insurance for All’. The initiative will also raise mass awareness about the significance of life insurance among the people of Goa,” asserted Dr Sawant.
“Under this scheme, Bima Sakhis will receive a monthly stipend during their training period as they work to expand life insurance coverage across the state. This program not only strengthens insurance accessibility but also fosters women’s empowerment. I urge women across Goa to come forward, join this initiative, and become Bima Sakhis, contributing to our collective mission of achieving ‘Insurance for All,” added the Chief Minister.
