PANAJI: Goan badminton sensation Tanisha Crasto is in pole position to be selected in the Indian team for Thomas and Uber Cup, and Sudirman Cup.
The 18-year-old Tanisha and Rutuparna Panda won the Selection Trials competition as they beat National champions Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhat in the finals of Women’s Doubles event. Earlier in the league, Tanisha-Rutuparna duo had defeated India international stars Ashwini Ponappa and Sikki Reddy to make a huge statement of their calibre.
Goa Badminton Association believes that the amazing win should seal their berths in the India Senior Squads for these prestigious upcoming championships.
Tanisha is the lone Goan in Union Sports Ministry’s ‘Target Olympic Podium Scheme’ and is an inspiration to the growing number of young shuttlers in the state.
